“I LOVE the organic folk band sound, the vocals are so authentic and distinct, the wind instrument in between is beautiful, and the overall sound is lush and so refreshingly genuine.”
Stereo Stickman, UK
“Nice organic and warm sounds in the production here from the acoustic guitar to the oboe. Like the groundedness in the vocal performance as well.”

Inspired by "Zombie" by the Cranberries, this song uses big piano chords and biting off-beat guitar riffs. "Pray for Rain" is an outcry against polarisation and warfare.
Marc Govan's second single "Falcon Head" is a folk-rock ode to seafarers. It has a full sound, with various wind instruments suggesting the force of the ocean, and with backing vocals echoing through the chorus. The song was inspired by a photo of a lighthouse in a storm. A wave crashed into the back, sending spray above the building itself. In the doorway at the front was the lighthouse keeper. He looked tiny against the background of the vast body of water.
The first single from the upcoming album High Tide, “The Apple Tree” is available on Bandcamp and SoundCloud. Country-style fiddle playing and jazzy clarinet licks add to the guitars and drums in this song. In a few words and through a few tempo changes, "The Apple Tree" tells a simple story that spans generations.
Reviews of Pray for Rain
The Sound Lab radio station, UK
Sometimes music arrives as a release, and a thunderclap of feeling that reflects the crisis that we endure in the world. "Pray for Rain," Marc Govan's latest single, packs that kind of punch... The music is a personal and artistic letter of protest in an aggrieved world, sending rage into the arena as a great rock song.
Lyrical Odyssey, UK
The message behind the song is strong and timely, and the shift toward a rockier sound gives the track a clear sense of intention and energy.
