Last weekend, I met up with Julie Lena and her country band for a gig rehearsal. I hadn't met any of these musicians before; one of the guitarists had contacted me via the app Vampr, and asked if I wanted to play fiddle with them. A couple of weeks later I found myself jamming in a barn in the Dutch countryside outside Willemstad.
It was a great experience and a fine example of how a band can be such fun despite everybody living in different places. The gig, on 28 March in Arnhem, is of the sort I wouldn't otherwise have played at: a big gathering of the online community Country Bunkhouse, active on different platforms than I am. In any case, I look forward to playing something slightly different than what I'm used to, and to meeting these people!
